Membership Covenant

Having received Christ as my Lord and Savior and being in agreement with the values and ideas presented in the New Song Church Next Steps class, I now feel led by the Holy Spirit to unite with the New Song family. In doing so, I commit myself to God and to the other members to do the following:

1. I will protect the unity of my church…

…By acting in love toward other members 

…By refusing to gossip

…By following the leaders

Romans 15:5 Live in complete harmony with each other each with the attitude of Christ toward each other.

2. I will share the responsibility of my church…

…By praying for its growth

…By inviting the unchurched to attend 

…By warmly welcoming those who visit

Luke 14:23 Go out into the country…and urge anyone you find to come in, so that My House will be full.

3. I will serve the ministry of my church…

…By discovering my gifts and talents

…By being equipped to serve by my pastors 

…By developing a servant’s heart

1 Peter 4:10 Serve one another with the particular gifts God has given each of you…

4. I will support the testimony of my church…

…By attending church and small groups faithfully 

…By living a godly life

…By giving regularly

New Member COMMITMENT

I have read and understand the New Song Church statement of beliefs and agree to voluntarily submit to the leadership as led by them. I have completed, in person or online, the Next Steps membership class. After prayerful consideration, I feel led by God to become a member of New Song. In doing so, I affirm the following:

I HAVE MADE AN AUTHENTIC PROFESSION OF FAITH IN JESUS CHRIST.

I have been baptized (or I have signed up for the next baptism) as a believer by full immersion .

I AM COMMITTED TO LIVING AS A FOLLOWER OF CHRIST.

I will engage in personal worship, obey the teachings of Scripture, and regularly fellowship with followers of Jesus.

I AM COMMITTED TO PROTECTING THE PEACE AND PURITY OF THE CHURCH.

I will act in love toward others, promote unity among believers, refuse to gossip, and pursue biblical reconciliation.

I AM COMMITTED TO SUPPORT THE WORSHIP AND PRACTICES OF THE CHURCH.

I will attempt to faithfully pray for and attend the weekend gatherings and partake in the Lord’s Supper (communion). I will also move toward the practice of generosity through regular giving.

I AM COMMITTED TO SERVING IN AND REINFORCING THE MISSION OF THE CHURCH.

I will use my spiritual gifts to serve the church (e.g. children’s ministry, ushers) and the community. I understand that the above standards cannot be maintained without relying on the Holy Spirit to work in my life and without specific commitments on my part. I acknowledge that I am in agreement with the member commitment.
