Building the Family

Building the Family

Psalm 92:13 Those who are planted in the house of the Lord. Shall flourish in the courts of our God.

We’re glad you’ve chosen to find out more about New Song! This section is the basic introduction to our church family. Since we have members from many different church backgrounds, this section is designed to clearly explain who we are and what we believe.

WHY WE EXIST AS A CHURCH

New Song Church exists to HELP PEOPLE KNOW GOD. Many people today know about God, but they do not know Him in the personal way that He can and wants to be known.

Philippians 3:8-10 Yes, everything else is worthless when compared with the infinite value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have discarded everything else, counting it all as garbage, so that I could gain Christ and become one with him. I no longer count on my own righteousness through obeying the law; rather, I become righteous through faith in Christ. For God’s way of making us right with himself depends on faith. I want to know Christ and experience the mighty power that raised him from the dead…

At New Song church we desire to connect real people, with a real God in a way that creates real life change. We do this by:

Reaching the Lost: We’re praying in the ones who have never said yes to Jesus. Completely lost or just a little off track, New Song exists to reach the lost in our city.

Creating Worshippers: We want to see people move from casual followers of Jesus, to people who love Him with every passion of their heart.

Developing Disciples: We are in the business of developing people who are daily being transformed into the image of Jesus.

Building the Family: We are convinced that the decision to join a church family is one of the most beneficial moves someone could ever make.

Activating Difference Makers: Jesus lead by a different model of servanthood. We are all about activating difference makers and sending them on a mission into this world.

OUR BELIEFS

1 Timothy 4:16 Watch your life and your doctrine closely. Persevere in them, because if you do, you will save both yourself and your hearers.

FOUR ESSENTIAL TRUTHS

1. The Bible is the Word of God.

2 Timothy 3:16 All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It straightens us out and teaches us to do what is right.

God’s Word is the only completely reliable and truthful authority and we accept the Bible as our manual for living. Our first question when faced with a decision is, “What does the Bible say?” We practice daily Bible reading and Bible study. The Bible is the basis for all we believe.

2. Jesus is the Son of God.

John 14:6 Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”

Acts 4:11-12 “…There is no other name in all of heaven for people to call on to save them.”

Jesus Christ, second Person of the Trinity, lived a sinless life on earth and voluntarily paid for our sin by dying on the cross as our substitute. This accomplished salvation for all who receive grace by trusting in Him alone. He rose from the dead and is the only mediator between God and us. He baptizes believers in the Holy Spirit and is coming back again to receive His church.

3. You must be born again.

2 Corinthians 5:17 When anyone becomes a Christian he becomes a new person inside. The old passes away, a new life has begun.

Matthew 16:25 If you try to keep your life for yourself, you will lose it. But if you give up your life for me (Jesus), you will find true life.

God created humans to have fellowship with Him, but they defied God by sinfully going their own way. As a result, we need God’s saving grace and forgiveness. Salvation comes only through God’s grace – not human effort – and must be received personally by repentance and faith. At the end, everyone will experience bodily resurrection and the judgment. Only believers will enjoy eternal fellowship with God.

4. Believers can be Spirit filled and Spirit led.

Acts 1:8 …you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you Ephesians 5:18 …be filled with the Holy Spirit

Luke 11:13 If you then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!

We believe the only way possible to live out the Christian life is with the person of the Holy Spirit empowering us to do so. Every believer can be filled with the Holy Spirit by simply asking. Part of our church culture is the practice of daily dependence on God’s Spirit to enable us to do what God has called us to do.

OUR STRUCTURE

1 Corinthians 14:33-40 For God is not a God of disorder; but of peace… Every- thing should be done in a fitting and orderly way.

NEW SONG GOVERNMENT

Believers who invest their hearts, time, families and finances in the building of a local church deserve to have confidence in church leadership. People are looking for leaders who conduct themselves with integrity and respect when making decisions that affect their lives.

New Song Church is elder-governed, senior pastors led, staff/volunteer run, and congregation owned.

We are an evangelical/non-denominational church. We are not affiliated with any particular denomination.

We are a Spirit-filled/charismatic church.

Elders

Our Elders have been been anointed by God to help direct the affairs of the church. Elders work alongside the lead pastors to implement New Song’s vision. They govern the church based on sensitivity to the Holy Spirit in regard to our vision, budgets, and policies. Elders determine the requirements/ standards for leadership, the membership process, and our Statement of Faith. The Elders also oversee staff hires, salaries, building projects, schedules, and any other affairs of the church that may come up.

New Song Elders

David Cromwell. David is a private practice anesthesiologist. He and his wife Tamara have five children and have been attending New Song since the month after it’s first service back in 2015.

Josh Romano. Josh is an outside sales rep for Atlas Roofing Corporation. He and his wife Christen have three kids and have been a part of New Song Church since 2016.

Ken Blount. Ken and his wife Trudi, have been part of New Song since before it began. They moved their ministry to Oklahoma City and serve as the executive family pastors at New Song.

Overseers

The Overseers are pastors of respected congregations and ministries who love New Song and are willing to provide spiritual protection to the church. They may be called in to help in accountability matters relating to the Senior Pastor if requested to do so by the Elders.

New Song Overseers

Roy Evans is the founder and lead pastor of Northstar Church. With over 40 years in youth and children ministry God called Roy and his wife Candy to start a life-changing church right here in Pryor in 2010. Roy and his wife Candy live at their ranch in Adair, OK and have two children and five grandchildren.

Dennis Rouse Along with his wife Colleen, Dennis Rouse founded Victory World Church in Norcross, GA, attended by more than 16000 members from over 140 countries. Dennis lives his life by three principles: simplicity, sincerity and sacrifice. He strongly believes we will not experience the fullness of God in our lives unless we move from simply being a believer to a committed disciple.

MEMBERSHIP

We ask you to commit to membership for four reasons:

1. A Biblical Reason: Christ is committed to the church.

Ephesians 5:25 …Christ loved the church, and he gave his life for it.

2. A Cultural Reason: It is an antidote to our society.

We live in an age where very few want to be committed to anything- a job, a marriage, our country. This attitude has even produced a generation of “church shoppers and hoppers”. Membership swims against the current of America’s “consumer religion.” It is an unselfish decision. Commitment always builds character.

3. A Practical Reason: It defines who can be counted on.

Every team must have a roster. Every school must have an enrollment. Every business has a payroll. Every army has an enlistment. Even our country takes a census and requires voter registration. Membership identifies our family.

4. A Personal Reason: It produces spiritual growth.

The New Testament places a major emphasis on the need for Christians to be accountable to each other for spiritual growth. You cannot be accountable when you’re not committed to any specific church family.

NEW SONG CHURCH MEMBERSHIP COVENANT

Having received Christ as my Lord and Savior and being in agreement with the values and ideas presented in the New Song Church Next Steps class, I now feel led by the Holy Spirit to unite with the New Song family. In doing so, I commit myself to God and to the other members to do the following:

1. I will protect the unity of my church…

…By acting in love toward other members

…By refusing to gossip

…By following the leaders

Romans 15:5 Live in complete harmony with each other – each with the attitude of Christ toward each other.

2. I will share the responsibility of my church…

…By praying for its growth

…By inviting the unchurched to attend

…By warmly welcoming those who visit

Luke 14:23 Go out into the country…and urge anyone you find to come in, so that My House will be full.

3. I will serve the ministry of my church…

…By discovering my gifts and talents

…By being equipped to serve by my pastors

…By developing a servant’s heart

1 Peter 4:10 Serve one another with the particular gifts God has given each of you…

4. I will support the testimony of my church…

…By attending church and small groups faithfully

…By living a godly life

…By giving regularly

Acts 2:42 They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.

1 Corinthians 16:2 Each one of you, on the first day of each week, should set aside a specific sum of money in proportion to what you have earned and use it for the offering.
